Where and when did you go?

I was able to go on a mission trip to Central America to Belize. We went December 10-15 of 2018.

Who did you go with?

I went with Bro. Steve (my pastor), Bro Allen Gullick, and Bro. Kerry Nelson, and two young Preachers from his Church, Bro. Shay and Bro. Matthew.

What did you go for?

We went to help and participate in a Pastor's school and just to kinda dip my toes in international missions.

*Bro. Kerry brought all of the Pastors at the school headlamps, because they all travel by foot and a lot of the time at night this will make it easier for them as they travel after preaching. The Preachers are also all holding Crosses that Bro. Keith Henley carved and sent to them.*

What was something that shocked you the most about the people and their way?

Really their humility, in our culture we are in the hustle and bustle of trying to achieve more and get more, and have more stuff. Where they are really just satisfied with what they have and content, and they aren’t really at each other as far trying to be better than the other.

What was your favorite part? (can be more than one)

My favorite part as far as it benefitting me, was actually the Pastor’s school, even the breaks inbetween it, because in the breaks we would go back to the bunks and Bro. Allen, Bro. Kerry, and Bro. Steve they would just talk about the Scriptures, and everything like that and it really helped me as far as my ministry and outlook on everything on what our Duty is.

What was your biggest take away?

No matter where yo go in the world people need the Gospel, and their culture is a lot different but they do face a lot of the same things that we do. A lot of the same struggles as far as drugs and alcohol and things like that.

*Bro. Josh had the privilege to get to baptize a couple who had been saved the week prior to him being there*

What was something funny that happened while you were there?

Mrs. Glenda Anderson gave us some guidelines to go go by as far as what to eat and what to eat and what not to eat whenever we got there and I was able to put that to play one night when we went to a revival, I went with Bro. Kerry and they had a meal after the service. They called what they had a hamburger and it was a thin small little piece of pork and lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise and everything like that. So, Bro. Kerry tears into his and about half way through his sandwich I remembered what Mrs. Glenda told us, that we did not need to eat their mayonnaise, and I made Bro. Kerry aware of that, but he went ahead and finished off his hamburger anyways. (The way they keep their is toxic to people who are not accustomed to eating it.)

How did this trip affect the way you see how we live compared to how they live?

Like I said they really just live with the basics, they aren’t trying to build an empire like the American culture is.

How was the opportunity to go on this trip brought to you?

Well Bro. Steve was going to help with the Pastor School and I had been wanting to go on a Mission Trip and my now Fiance Madi had already been to Belize, and I seen how excited she was about it and it made me want to go too, and Bro. Steve gave me the invitation to go and I took him up on it.

Mention anything else you want!

I was just really impressed by Bro. Wayne and Mrs. Glenda Anderson (pictured below) and their heart for those people, and how they go and give of themselves, and their own time to invest in the Preacher's their and educated them and build their faith in scripture and things like that.
