When/Where did you go?

"We went to the Stanley House in Pueblo Viejo, Belize. We stayed from June 4th to June 11th of 2018."

What was the Mission?

"We were doing a vacation bible school in two different villages, while Bro. Stanley and Bro. Steve hosted a pastor school for the preachers in Belize. Also Mrs. Glenda's daughter came down, Mrs. Leslie. She did a Sunday School class for the women to learn how to teach Sunday School classes to the kids in their churches."

What stirred you to go?

"Well once I surrendered to the mission field, God opened doors left and right for me. My pastor Bro. Steve Parrish came to me and he felt led that I should go on the mission trip to Belize.

Who did you go with?

"With Bro. Stanley Kilgore's mission team of 9 people."

How was it different from the way that we live?

"Well to me, the most different thing there is that their faith is just so much stronger, and they have to rely on more of what God provides for them versus what man provides for them. Also, they all loved each other. I never saw a negative attitude come out of anybody and that was so overwhelming for me. The food was also different, but I ate more there than I do here. They ate a lot of chicken, and the chicken there is tougher because it has more muscle than fat like the chicken here. At one of the VBS's they had all the chicken meat in a dirty bowl stirring it with a stick, but it actually turned out good. Also they eat a lot of vegetables and fruits. The fruits there had so much more flavor and they tasted like candy. The vegetables there were juicy and full of flavor. We ate a lot of rice which was good, but my favorite was the zucchini and I don't even eat zucchini at all!"

What was your favorite part?

"The kids, really just the kids, they were a big part of the whole thing and a big part of my heart. The way that they worship, all of their music sounds the same, so to them our music is so moving, because it is so different. Even though they all sing english hymns, they are all a little off beat. So when we would go worship with them, I would wait for them to start the words and I would join in. What I also though was cool was that the churches there also have missionaries that they support that go to India, China, and other places in Belize!"
